Dan was Master Hackney Carriage Driver 2024-25 and held the rare, if not unique, privilege of also being Beadle to two Livery Companies (Glaziers and Launderers), and Ward Beadle for Cripplegate (Without) during his term as a Livery Master.

He is a Council Member of the City Livery Club and Honorary Secretary of their Wine Circle, a Committee Member of Walbrook Ward Club, an Assistant of Cripplegate Ward Club, and Honorary Bargemaster for the Worshipful Company of Glaziers.

Away from the City, Dan enjoys Real Ale, Wine, and Scotch Malt Whisky; Church Bell Ringing, playing drums in a band, cooking, reading and cryptic crosswords; most sports, with Cricket, Rugby, Horse Racing and Rowing at the forefront of his interests. And he has been a successful gundog trainer. Across the pond he holds the commission of Kentucky Colonel from the Governor of Kentucky and is a 'Guardian of the Groove' supporting New Orleans music through local community radio station WWOZ.
