After retiring in 2025 after a 40-year career in the Royal Navy Janice wanted to maintain her links in the City.

After a chance meeting with the GSWD’s Master at an event in the Guildhall in early 2024 she found herself being appointed as their Beadle.

Mid 2024, as her retirement was looming she was introduced to the Alderman of the Ward of Cordwainer and after a ‘chat over coffee’ Janice was appointed as his Beadle.

Then happily she was approached by the WCA and after interview she secured her third Beadle role.

As a former Engagement Officer for the Royal Naval Headquarters in London formality and tradition is in her blood.

Janice is enjoying learning about the Livery Companies, their history and traditions and feels very privileged to serve her Alderman and Masters. 

She lives in Newbury with her husband Michael who she met in the Navy in 1983, they have two sons who both live locally in the town.
